No Shave November in Neenah

Certified Sexy Burlesque

Neenah, WI

Embarking on the first journey into the world of burlesque was nothing short of extraordinary. It wasn't just about fabulous performances; It was about inclusivity, approachability, safety, and the sheer joy of spending a Saturday night enveloped in the enchanting atmosphere of the Certified Sexy Burlesque team!

I was a little apprehensive about entering a potentially overtly sexual space. Little did I know, that with each captivating performance, a new lesson unfolded in the importance of being present. Elle, a beacon of acceptance and joy, led the way, both on and off the stage. The values of love and vulnerability radiated not only from the performers but also from those behind the scenes, orchestrating an unforgettable night. In daily life, the word "inclusive" is often used, and believe fervently that everyone deserves to feel cherished, with or without clothes on. This belief was reinforced as we witnessed individuals bravely baring their souls on stage. The photo gallery isn't just a collection of hot moments; it's a visual narrative of emotional stories, a testament to the inclusive and accepting atmosphere that prevailed throughout the event.

While I typically adhere to a lane of portrait photography, these events pushed the boundaries. Events like No Shave November Burlesque Up North! demanded a different lens, one that captured the powerful branding, raised awareness, and contributed to the local arts scene. In these moments, acceptance and safety took precedence over the traditional confines of event photography. The lens might not always be the biggest or fastest, but it seeks to capture the essence of who you are when you feel safe and loved. For the Up-North Burlesque show, the images go beyond mere documentation; they contribute to the legacy of a community celebration, telling stories of bravery and creating a visual history.

For the past five years, the journey in stage and event photography has been a practice of love. While the muse has changed, the practice remains, finding inspiration in performances, speeches, and the genuine camaraderie that unfolds on stage. Burlesque unexpectedly became a powerful addition to this practice, touching on themes of sexuality, abuse, playfulness, yearning, and friendship in diverse and impactful ways. In capturing the essence of events like the burlesque show, our pledge is to bring not just technical competence but a profound understanding of the emotional narrative. Your events and performances are not just moments frozen in time; they are stories of courage, joy, and connection waiting to be immortalized through the lens of someone who values the power of acceptance, safety, and love.
